Alys Robinson Stephens Performing Arts Center

Birmingham Chamber Music Society

Borealis String Quartet
The Birmingham Chamber Music Society (BCMS) was founded in 1937 to provide local musicians the opportunity to perform in small ensembles. The BCMS is one of the oldest continuously operating performing arts organizations in the Greater Birmingham area. BCMS concerts now feature visiting artists recognized around the world by the most respected critics and audiences. The organization presents four chamber music concerts annually, along with several education and outreach programs by chamber music ensembles and soloists.

The BCMS is a non-profit, 501(c) 3 with no paid staff. Collaborations with other arts organizations, along with grant support and private sponsorships, allow BCMS to present performances. Since the 2006-2007 season, they have presented concerts in collaboration with the Alys Robinson Stephens Performing Arts Center, on the campus of the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
